CURRENT PRODUCTION:
"...one of the funniest—and most ingenious—Forums ever."
Everyone's after something in this musical Comedy by Larry Gelbart and Burt Shevelove. Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The musical tells the bawdy story of a slave named Pseudolus and his attempts to win his freedom by helping his young master Hero woo the girl next door. Not the house of poor ancient Erronius, who is abroad searching for his long-lost children stolen in infancy by pirates. The other neighboring house is owned by Marcus Lycus, who is a buyer and seller of women, Including Philia (the object of Heros affection) who has been sold to the renowned warrior Captain Miles Gloriosus.
When Heros parents depart and leave Hysterium , their slave-in-chief, to tend the house and Pseudolus in charge of Hero he promises to help him win Philia's love in exchange for his own freedom. As Erronius returns from looking for his children and Senex, Heros father, returns from his trip without his shrewish wife who is soon to follow, as well as the arrival of the Captain Miles, all of Pseudolus plans may be in jeopardy. The Farce that follows, inspired by the ancient Roman playwrights, includes puns, cases of mistaken identity, satirical comments on social class, and plenty of unforgettable heart warming moments.
Come see this balls to the walls comedy, directed by Lisaun Wittingham and music directed by Bill Reilly. Previews start April 3rd!
