Join us for a summer evening of confused young lovers, hapless tradesmen and mischievous fairies as
The Crown City Theater Company presents
William Shakespeare's
A Midsummer Nights Dream

Lysander and Hermia love each other and Helena loves Demetrius. Demetrius used to love Helena but now loves Hermia. Hermia's parent prefers Demetrius as her future husband, and requests Theseus, the Duke of Athens, to enforce Athenian law; Hermia is given four days to choose between Demetrius, life in a nunnery, or a death sentence. When Lysander tells Hermia they can go live with his Aunt they plan their flight through the woods.
That night in the woods, Oberon and Titania, King and Queen of Fairies, are fighting over a boy whom Titania has adopted. For revenge, Oberon orders his servant Puck to bring him a magic flower, the juice of which Oberon will drop on the Queen's eyelids as she sleeps, at which point Titania will fall in love with whatever she sees when she awakens.
Hilarity ensues as Puck puts love potion on the several of the young lovers eyes and Oberon puts it on Titania's eyes right after Puck has turned a mortal into a donkey.
Throw in a group of mortal working men who have never done a play in their lives rehearsing one to hopefully show to the Duke on his wedding day... where do they go to rehearse and when? On a midsummer's night in the woods where the fairies play and the lovers fight.
Now picture the most beautiful place on earth... Descanso Gardens.
